This 1 Sen banknote was issued in Indonesia in 1964 as part of the "New Rupiah - First Series". It was demonetized on November 15, 1996. The banknote features a peasant with a straw hat on the obverse side and geometric designs on the reverse side.
Features a peasant with a straw hat, the text "BANK INDONESIA" and "SATU SEN" (One Sen). Includes the signatures of Governor Jusuf Muda Dalam and Director Hertatijanto. Printed by the state printer Pertjetakan Kebajoran.
Geometric patterns and warning text about counterfeiting:
"Barangsiapa meniru atau memalsukan uang kertas dan barangsiapa mengeluarkan dengan sengadja atau menjimpan uang kertas jang dipalsukan akandituntut dimuka hakim" (Translation: Whoever imitates or falsifies banknotes and whoever releases them accidentally or keeps falsified banknotes will be prosecuted before the judge).
The series was introduced for circulation on December 13, 1965. Due to its low value, lower denominations of this series were almost worthless at issuance, and millions of these notes never entered circulation.
